"Beautiful location, memorable holiday".

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely weeks holiday at Maison de la Foret. The weather was fantastic and the surrondings so relaxing.

When we arrived we met the owners. They were very pleasant and showed us up to our room. The room was nice, clean and with a view of the Gardens. In the evening we went for a walk in the woods and down to the lake, very romantic.

Breakfast was good. Fresh Croissants and Coffee. The first couple of days we really enjoyed relaxing up at the pool and fishing by the lake.

Paul and Mave were very helpful, they gave us lots of ideas of where to go. My wife & I loved Baynac Castle and
St. Emilion. The last day I persuded my wife to go canoeing on the river dordogne, we had so much fun, probably the best day of the holiday, highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Lovely owners, nice hotel and beautiful location.

"A lovely 2 star hotel"

A lovely 2 star hotel with its own swimming pool. There are only 5 rooms, so you are away from the crowds. The couple running it are English and very accommodating and friendly. We found it excellent value for money even with the strong Euro. It is just a few minutes drive from Bergerac, and set in beautiful surroundings with a friendly welcome.

"Thanks for the warm hospitality"

Many thanks to Paul and Mave for the warm hospitality we enjoyed at your hotel at the beginning and end of our holiday in France. We could not have had a better start or conclusion to our trip.  We arrived back in Ireland to heavy rain but with great memories of a wonderful holiday. We are already looking forward for another opportunity to spend some time in Bergerac.

''C'est Magnifique!''

My family and i had a lovely time at Maison de la foret. It is situated in the most glorious rural setting, which in my opinion one of the most beautiful areas i have ever been... and just a short drive away from the airport.
The weather was spectacular, so we were more than happy spending time relaxing by the pool. Well, i say relaxing, the kids were having a whale of a time. When they weren't splashing about in the pool, they were running about in the woods at the end of the garden.
The rooms were lovely and quaint and we were received very warmly by the owners.  Bergerac, the nearest town to Laveyssiere, is a beatiful little town with masses of character. My son and i enjoyed walking about looking at the sites, whilst my wife and 2 daughters spent hours spending time (and money) in the little boutique shops the town has to offer.  We had a great time and would seriously consider coming back again.

''Extreme relaxation in a beautiful and picturesque setting''

We arrived at Maison de la Foret at dusk after a short flight from Luton. Before we decided to go for some supper, the owners, a warm and welcoming married couple, showed us to our room and then we took a turn around the garden. The house is set in a gorgeous garden with a pool - which we took full advantage of in the coming days.
Our room was clean, cosy and cheery with an ensuite and a large comfortable bed. We took full advantage of breakfast in the morning, which was either cereals like weetabix and cornflakes or toast/croissants with butter and jam - also tea and coffee.
As we had been to the South of France previously and had also checked out the location on Google Maps, it was apparent that we needed a hire car - which we booked easily at the airport on our arrival.
The main purpose of our visit was to visit the vineyards and wineries of Saint Emillion but Mave and Paul (the owners) were also very helpful in telling us about the wonderful medieval market village of Issigeac and also about what was to be found in the town of Bergerac. All this was easy with a car and the weather was almost perfect on our visit - we had one day of gloomy weather and my partner and I decided to hit the shops that day. All in all, we much preferred coming to this delightful B and B rather than staying at a budget hotel, mainly because it felt like staying in a family home and that added to our sense of relaxation.

Total bliss and escapsim

My partner and I visited Bergerac in May as we have become more and more interested in wine and where better to go then the Dordogne?

The chambre d'hote was delightfully nestled amongst trees and by a lake, and all such a short distance from the airport. As soon as we entered the place, we were greeted with such warmth that we soon relaxed into our holiday. Breakfast is served every morning and tea and coffee are available on tap.

The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable and complete with ensuites and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. The window opens onto a garden where you can sit and chat in the evening. The whole place has a very sweet charm about it and is well maintained by the very lovely owners Paul and Mave Swainson who recommended we visit all the places below.

Armed with a map and a camera it's so very easy to visit the wonderful places as they are so close to the hotel, such as the vineyards at St. Emilion and the old towns of Sarlat and Domme, the surrounding areas of Perigueux, Issigeac and lovely ancient town of Bergerac where there are lots of cafes, restaurants and a great market.

While we were there the weather was so beautiful, we couldn't resist spending an afternoon lazing by the pool - a fitting end to our holiday.

A most enjoyable stay in Bergerac

We have recently returned from a beautiful weeks stay in Bergerac where we managed to combine both business and a few days sightseeing.

Maison de la Foret provided an ideal base and was set in the most beautiful of surroundings. The proprietors were an English couple who were excellent hosts who made us feel more than welcome. We found this to be a great advantage with our limited understanding of the French language and additionally they were a great source of information regarding local activities and places of interest to visit. We could not have asked for more.

This chambres d'hôte is very picturesque, the rooms were of ample size with a good en-suite. Clean towels were provided on a daily basis.

The breakfast was straight forward and uncomplicated and certainly set us up for the day. Tea and coffee was also readily available throughout the day.

We would recommend this chambres d'hôte to anyone that is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all and we would certainly stay there again.

Loved the tranquility and atmosphere of the house.”

Have returned from my third visit to Masion de la Foret and want to say how much I enjoyed staying in this beautiful house with its wonderfully well maintained gardens and surroundings. It is situated conveniently near the airport and Bergerac, two very important facts. The rooms are clean and freshly decorated and the owners are a charming couple. I shall go back in 2009, and so will my family !

"Fairy tale cottage! loved it.”

Thought I would write a review seeing as it would be an excellent chance for others to receive the experience through younger eyes (I am 20 yrs old) and there is no bias as I enjoy different types of holidays whether it be a clubbing holiday or a peaceful short break away. Driving up to Maison de la Foret was a tad daunting as I didn't know what to expect, but once the building came into view I was left speechless. Absolutely charming, almost fairy tale like, complete with it's own wishing well! The scenery from the back was gorgeous, and although there is a road behind the maison the noise is hardly noticeable....and to be honest it was nice to have a gentle reminder of reality or I would have been whisked away by the charm of the cottage and surrounded areas forever!

The couple who run the maison are helpful, approachable and above all were always smiling. The decor is homely and a treasure trove of past travels giving it a comfortable feel. My bedroom was light and airy with all the basics and the bathroom was heaven sent compared to others I have stayed in.

The breakfast provided is set up sweetly and there is flow of tea or coffee if you need more. There is also a table upstairs which once again has more tea/coffee refreshments if you need anything during the night. I would definitely recommend staying at maison de la foret with a family, a cosy weekend with a partner or even just to get some time away to yourself. Had an immensely peaceful weekend with time to recollect thoughts and enjoy my own company. I had an amazing time overall in Bergerac and the stay at maison just rounded it off.

"We will be back soon"

I am really glad we could stay with you. We didn't have very much time to stroll in the forest or swim in the pool, but will return one day to do so.  We will recommend your hotel to our friends and family.
